About the position

The Director of Advancement Onboarding, Education & Training at the Indiana University Foundation (IUF) is responsible for integrating new advancement staff, particularly frontline fundraisers, into a community focused on philanthropy. This role involves shaping the vision and strategic development of training programs based on the principles of 'the IU Way', ensuring continuous learning and skill enhancement for the advancement community across all nine IU campuses. The position emphasizes collaboration, content design, and the implementation of comprehensive onboarding and professional development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the education and development of fundraising talent across all IU campuses.
  • Integrate new advancement staff into the organization with a focus on frontline fundraisers.
  • Shape the vision and strategic development of training programs based on 'the IU Way'.
  • Act as the central point of contact for comprehensive and ongoing training for fundraisers.
  • Leverage subject matter experts to create and implement relevant onboarding and professional development programs.
  • Ensure continuous learning and skill enhancement for the advancement community.
  • Partner with IUF Human Resources to negotiate contracts for third-party trainings.
  • Create powerful training curriculum and effective programs to elevate onboarding and training experiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7 years of experience in non-profits, philanthropy, training and development, and/or instructional design.
  • Expectation to complete instructional design training within 6 months if not already proficient.
  • Significant experience in fundraising and advancement.
  • Deep understanding of non-profit or higher-education environments.
  • Background in learning and development with facilitation experience or a plan to be trained in instructional design.
  • Excellent presentation skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership skills in project and team management.
  • Strong project management capabilities with proficiency in creating logical workflows.
  • Commitment to fostering collaboration across different disciplines.
  • Success in developing collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data critically.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in instructional design training programs.
  • Familiarity with Langevin Instructional Design or similar methodologies.
