About the position

The Director of Annual Giving is responsible and accountable for providing strategic leadership and management for a robust annual giving program to achieve annual goals benefitting Texas Lutheran University. The Director of Annual Giving will work closely with the AVP for Annual Giving and Alumni Relations and the Development and Alumni Relations staff to engage supporters and volunteers necessary for the university to fulfill its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a strategic annual giving program for donor acquisition, renewal and reactivation in alignment with university strategic plans.
  • Develop an annual plan for implementing and expanding the annual giving program through the use of phonathons, direct mail, email, digital, the annual Day of Giving, events and other modern methods.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Alumni Relations staff, the Development Board, and alumni networks to create and manage a plan to increase annual support particularly at the President's Associates level ($1,500+).
  • Manage a comprehensive communication plan including developing visual materials and cases for support. Ensure that all communication reflects the needs and brand of the University.
  • Collect and analyze data in partnership with Development Services, conduct analysis, track metrics, assess trends, and set strategies to enhance fundraising efforts and to monitor resource allocation.
  • Manage and lead the Business Partners program.
  • Oversee the student engagement team to reach current and new donors.
  • Manage a modest portfolio of leadership annual donors and prospects who have the capacity and interest to support the University.
  • Assist the AVP for Annual Giving and Alumni Relations in the execution of annual fundraising events such as Front Row and President's Associates Dinner.
  • Manage the annual giving budget.
  • Research and incorporate best practices.
  • Engage and interface with outside vendors as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Previous experience in annual giving or development is preferred.
  • Strong skills in organization, human relations, and communications.
  • Ability to work with diversity of alumni groups, ages, and interests.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter.
  • Ability to effectively work with and manage others.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must support the mission and strategic plan of Texas Lutheran University.
