About the position

The Director of Community Schools is responsible for overseeing the Child First Community Schools programming, ensuring it meets high standards of quality and complies with grant requirements. This role involves leading a team of Community School Coordinators, fostering collaboration, and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance the Community School strategy in alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively supervise and professionally develop a team of 12 full-time Community School Coordinators.
  • Develop a collaborative culture that maximizes the strengths and talents of team members.
  • Engender collective inquiry, shared practice, and action research to promote learning and better practices.
  • Increase shared responsibility for organizational success.
  • Promote the development of a relational culture among and between coordinators.
  • Identify, develop, and deliver strategic training opportunities in response to CSC needs and organizational data trends.
  • Develop and grow relationships between Community School Coordinators, organizational partners, and funders.
  • Regularly collaborate with principals to provide technical assistance for implementing the Community School Strategy.
  • Collaborate with leadership to enhance organizational systems for tracking and reporting effectiveness of the Community School strategy.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including approving finances and tracking expenditures.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director to meet organizational goals.
  • Work with senior management on program goals, marketing materials, and grant proposals.
  • Maintain accurate records for organizational accountability and coordinate site documentation with grant reporting needs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree required with relevant experience considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years program management, planning, and coordination experience.
  • Experience supervising a team is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of the Community School Strategy and landscape of Baltimore City.
  • Former experience as a Community School Coordinator preferred.
  • Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a mission and strategic vision.
  • Leadership, coaching, and teambuilding skills to strengthen relationships.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking skills with problem-solving abilities.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships among diverse groups.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and using data to inform decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and staff, partners, and volunteers.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
