About the position

The Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at UNC Asheville is responsible for developing and executing strategies to secure funding from corporate and foundation partners. This role involves identifying potential partners, cultivating relationships, preparing grant proposals, and ensuring effective stewardship of received funds. The Director will collaborate with university leadership, faculty, and staff to align fundraising efforts with the university's strategic goals, aiming to achieve revenue goals of nearly $600K in grants and $2M in support. The position requires strong relationship-building and communication skills to inspire investment and build a pipeline of corporate philanthropy and foundation funding.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to secure funding from corporate and foundation partners.
  • Identify potential partners and cultivate relationships with them.
  • Prepare grant proposals and ensure effective stewardship of received funds.
  • Collaborate with university leadership, faculty, and staff to align fundraising efforts with strategic goals.
  • Achieve revenue goals of nearly $600K in grants and $2M in support.
  • Build strong and productive relationships with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, corporate and foundation relations, or a related field, preferably within a higher education setting.
  • Proven track record of securing significant funding from corporate and foundation partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling proposals and presentations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in grant writing or a related position.
  • Familiarity with grant management processes and requirements.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems and other fundraising tools and technologies.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with potential and current funders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Six (6) or more years of successful experience in higher education fundraising.
  • Experience working on successful comprehensive university fundraising campaigns.
  • Proficiency in database management; experience with Blackbaud products (RE NXT) preferred.
  • Organized, enthusiastic, efficient, and committed personality able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail balanced with the ability to recognize the larger picture in relation to program/organizational trends.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple, competing deadlines.

Benefits

  • Commensurate salary based on experience (anticipated hiring range $90,000-$120,000).
