About the position

The Director of Corporate Communications at the Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) is responsible for developing and implementing the overall corporate communication strategy. This role serves as the spokesperson for the organization, managing internal and external communications, media relations, public relations, crisis communications, and branding initiatives to enhance the organization's reputation and ensure consistent messaging aligned with its core values.

Responsibilities

  • Produce engaging, informative, and creative content for internal and external use including media releases, articles, presentations, and social media posts.
  • Lead, develop, and implement corporate communications, public and media relations strategies in support of lottery games, programs, and services.
  • Meet with executives and directors on policy, planning, and status; lead staff meetings in the planning of communications initiatives and develop and write communications policies.
  • Manage and oversee departmental staff; ensure effective control of the communication budget and tracking.
  • Oversee Corporate Social Responsibility and Government Affairs programs, including community service initiatives and legislative agenda.
  • Represent CLC in media interviews and to civic and stakeholder groups; respond to information requests and create media events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a closely related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, or public relations.
  • Strong knowledge of the Associated Press Style.
  • Expertise in writing press releases, pitching stories, and organizing media events.
  • Skilled presenter with the ability to speak persuasively about the lottery's brand and benefits.
  • Ability to create compelling content for storytelling across all communication channels and mediums.
  • Knowledge of media tracking software including Meltwater.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
  • Experience with photography, videography, and editing.
