About the position

Cirrus Aircraft is seeking a Director of Finance Business Partnering to join our team in Duluth, MN. This role is pivotal in leading the financial strategy and performance improvements across various business units, particularly within the Customer Experience Team and Innovation & Operations. The Director will oversee a team of analysts, guiding them in their efforts to enhance profitability, predictability, and adherence to business planning. This position is not only about managing financial operations but also about fostering a culture of collaboration and mentorship within the team, preparing them for future leadership roles. The Director will be responsible for providing variance reporting against budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans, identifying gaps and risks, and proposing countermeasures. They will design test cases for significant business decisions to validate hypotheses and expected outcomes. A key aspect of this role is to distill complex financial concepts into actionable insights for senior business leaders, ensuring that financial considerations are integrated into all business decisions. Collaboration is essential in this role, as the Director will work closely with the accounting team to analyze results, identify inefficiencies, and enhance reporting processes. They will also partner with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) during all planning cycles, including budgeting and forecasting, to support business units in rationalizing their plans. The Director will play a crucial role in facilitating the entry into new lines of business and ensuring that Cirrus engages in long-term, profitable expansion. Additionally, the Director will act as a liaison between FP&A, Accounting, and Business Units to develop actionable reporting and dashboards in Power BI, enabling the tracking of business health and performance indicators. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to build consensus across various departments to deliver effective solutions. Regular attendance and a willingness to travel, estimated at 25%, including international travel, are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of analysts who partner with senior business leaders to enhance profitability and strategic direction.
  • Provide variance reporting to budget, forecast, and strategic plan, identifying gaps, risks, and countermeasures.
  • Design test cases for significant business decisions to confirm hypotheses and expected results.
  • Mentor the team, expanding capabilities and developing career paths for future leaders.
  • Distill complex problems into simple and actionable direction.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to analyze results and improve reporting processes.
  • Work with FP&A for all planning cycles, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Improve execution in entering new lines of business and significant business process enhancements.
  • Act as a liaison to ensure Finance and Accounting are engaged in new business changes.
  • Identify key risks and work with Internal Controls to ensure appropriate mitigation measures are in place.
  • Proactively identify and address problems across the enterprise, building consensus for solutions.
  • Develop actionable reporting and dashboards in Power BI to track performance and business health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Finance and Accounting, with increasing responsibility; seven years of demonstrated leadership experience.
