About the position

The Director of Finance at Hover Senior Living Community is responsible for overseeing the financial health and planning of the organization. This role involves constructing a sustainable financial structure that maximizes the utilization of resources to meet the nonprofit's mission and goals. The Director will work closely with the CEO and executive leadership team to develop strategies for financial resource allocation, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with financial regulations. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with the Board of Directors and key financial partners to enhance the organization's financial performance and viability.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the financial health and planning of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key financial partners.
  • Establish an annual operating budget for the organization in collaboration with the leadership team.
  • Direct and oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, and budget functions.
  • Analyze financial data and present accurate financial reports to the leadership team and Board of Directors.
  • Prepare cash flow projections and maintain the integrity of funds and securities.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable regulatory laws.
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable/Payable activities and ensure timely collection of rents.
  • Coordinate with outside auditors for timely audits and financial reporting.
  • Recruit, supervise, and mentor finance department members, ensuring adequate staffing and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years in accounting/finance and a minimum of five years of financial management experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit budget models.
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Experience with accounting software and financial management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency.
