About the position

The Finance Director at The Lundquist Institute is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting. This role involves analyzing financial data, providing strategic guidance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and developing financial strategies to support the organization's goals. The Finance Director will also manage a team of finance professionals and collaborate with other departments to enhance financial performance and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor two staff in Accounts Receivable (Staff Accountant and AR Specialist).
  • Manage month-end close process and develop a month-end close plan with the team.
  • Develop and maintain an AR aging for all systems and monitor for collection.
  • Prepare cash reports and projections for senior management.
  • Prepare monthly financials for senior management.
  • Assist in process documentation and work with external auditors for year-end closing and reporting.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as assigned.
  • Develop, document, and maintain written procedures for general accounting.
  • Monitor and ensure timely payment of debt service and leases.
  • Monitor compliance with debt covenants and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and review balance sheet reconciliations and schedules.
  • Monitor and review the general ledger for proper revenue recognition methods.
  • Develop and implement processes for streamlined revenue recognition practices in the new ERP system.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support cross-functional initiatives and projects.
  • Review and improve financial processes and systems for efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in finance or accounting, with leadership or management experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making abilities.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or CMA.
