About the position

The Director of Finance at Surface Optics Corporation is responsible for overseeing the financial management of the company's operations. This role involves developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the company's goals, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and providing strategic recommendations to the executive team. The Finance Director plays a critical role in financial planning and analysis, risk management, and collaboration with other departments to support overall business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support overall business goals.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the executive and leadership teams based on financial analysis and projections.
  • Lead the complete financial reporting processes including internal and external reporting, GAAP accounting, month-end close, FP&A planning, and forecasting financial controls.
  • Ensure SOC's books and records are in compliance with GAAP, local, state, and federal laws.
  • Assist with preparing and monitoring departmental budgets and metrics.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide insights to the executive and leadership teams.
  • Manage financial risks and streamline financial processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.
  • Communicate financial performance and strategy to stakeholders, including the board of directors, investors, and employees.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to ensure the organization's financial health and facilitate informed decision-making.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • Experience in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Experience developing and monitoring budgets for small and mid-sized companies.
  • Experience leading the complete financial reporting processes including internal and external reporting, GAAP accounting, month-end close, FP&A planning, and forecasting financial controls.
  • Excellent computer and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field.
  • CPA certification.
