The Director of Finance at Disability Rights California (DRC) plays a crucial role in managing the financial activities of the organization, which advocates for the rights of individuals with disabilities. This position is responsible for leading the Accounting team and ensuring the efficient operation of the Accounting Department, which handles complex grant accounting and various financial functions. The Director will collaborate closely with the Executive Director, Associate Executive Directors, and the Board of Directors to develop annual budgets, monitor fiscal performance, and conduct financial forecasting and planning. Additionally, the Director will oversee external audits, including the annual financial audit and 401k audit, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. In this hands-on role, the Director of Finance must possess a deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and non-profit accounting practices. The position requires a high level of accuracy, conscientiousness, and timeliness in executing job responsibilities. The Director will be responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating accounting personnel, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment. The role also involves overseeing all accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, cash management, and financial reporting, while ensuring adherence to internal controls and regulatory standards. The Director of Finance will prepare timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, manage the agency's budget, and ensure that all financial records are maintained in accordance with GAAP.
