About the position

The Director of Finance at Meritage Homes is responsible for overseeing financial forecasting, internal reporting, strategic analysis, and business strategy development. This role involves collaborating with various functional areas to create cohesive strategies and providing comprehensive analyses on business decisions. The position requires strong leadership, negotiation skills, and the ability to influence others while maintaining a focus on both detail and the big picture.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the review and analysis of forecasts; establish divisional profit forecasts and communicate issues to upper management.
• Key role in the accumulation of data and the formation of divisional financial forecasts including quarterly, annual, and detailed five-year forecasts.
• Conduct financial/strategic analyses on issues affecting the business environment including feasibility of joint ventures and market analysis of new applications.
• Develop short and long-term strategic plans in collaboration with representatives from each functional area (Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, etc.).
• Provide comprehensive analyses and summaries on business decisions, including product line moves, component sourcing, and facilities rationalization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; Master's degree is a plus.
• 3+ years in a similar or comparable position.
• Advanced Excel, Microsoft Office products, JD Edwards/PeopleSoft, and Cognos/forecasting software preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
• Strong negotiating skills and the ability to influence others.
• Strong leadership skills; ability to set objectives, delegate tasks, and evaluate performance.
• Sound judgment with a high level of integrity to execute decisions with significant corporate/financial impact.
• Attention to detail while staying focused on the big picture.
• Analytical skills to interpret information, analyze multiple variables, and make effective decisions under pressure.
