About the position

The Director of Finance at Bob Hope School is responsible for managing all financial affairs of the district, including accounting, purchasing, and data processing. This role involves assisting the Chief of Finance, CEO, and Board of Directors, while ensuring the maintenance and accuracy of the district's general ledger and providing accounting support to all campuses and departments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and manage the operation of all financial affairs of the district.
  • Serve as the director of finance and assist the Chief of Finance, CEO, and Board of Directors.
  • Maintain the district's general ledger; review, reconcile, and report general ledger accounts.
  • Provide daily accounting support to all campuses and departments.
  • Manage budgeting and personnel related to financial operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Minimum five years of experience in public accounting with two years in school finance.
  • Experience working with federal programs and in a charter school as its own state agency.
  • Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of school finance, budgeting, accounting systems, and economics.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a nonprofit organization.
  • Knowledge of accounting software (Ascender preferred).
  • Proficiency in Excel and database management.
