About the position

This Executive Level position will oversee all aspects of the Finance/Accounting Department in a centralized environment. The Director of Finance will report to the General Manager and the VP of Finance. This role is crucial as it involves acting as a mentor and being very involved with the day-to-day operations of the hotel and the department. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that the financial operations align with the hotel's objectives and will play a key role in strategic decision-making processes. The Director of Finance will effectively manage and communicate cash flow-related issues as required to management and ownership. This includes coordinating the completion of all forecasts and budgets with the full and active participation of the Executive Team and department managers. Analyzing financial data and operations will be essential to assist and advise management in maintaining the hotel's financial objectives. The Director will also ensure that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a timely basis and will establish and continually audit all internal financial controls, including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, credit extension, inventories, assets, master keys, payroll, and records. In addition, the Director will direct and/or prepare all financial reports in accordance with the company's requirements, ensuring that various due dates and deadlines are met. Compliance with all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes will also fall under the Director's responsibilities. This position requires a proactive approach to financial management and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues to management and ownership.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably within the hospitality industry.
  • Bachelor's or Graduate degree with a Business Administration, Accounting or Finance concentration.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc., from disparate sources and adjust or modify to meet specific needs.
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and perform basic arithmetic functions.
  • Ability to prioritize to meet due dates and deadlines.
  • Proven track record of financial leadership and strategic decision-making.
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
