About the position

The Director of Finance for the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District is responsible for leading the finance team and ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient financial reporting in compliance with accounting standards and government regulations. This role requires an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to the District's values, focusing on the development and management of financial functions, processes, and systems within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the finance team by exhibiting District values and ensuring effective financial reporting.
• Oversee, develop, and train members of the finance team, establishing clear goals and expectations.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements with analysis and narrative context.
• Manage the budget process from beginning to end, ensuring compliance and monitoring.
• Supervise payroll processing and related tax reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate with leadership to manage operating and excess cash balances, preparing cash flow projections.
• Implement and oversee accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
• Assist in grant administration and ensure timely regulatory financial reporting.
• Represent the Airport Management Team in financial planning and provide updates to the District Commission.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a professional accounting or finance role.
• At least two (2) years of experience in a management-level capacity.
• Experience in airport and/or government finance is highly preferred.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or CIA are highly preferred.
