About the position

The Director of Finance at QinetiQ US is responsible for leading a team of finance and accounting professionals within the Defense Modernization and Intelligence Mission Services business unit. This role requires a strategic leader who will ensure financial performance and accountability, engage with senior leadership, and provide proactive financial analysis to support business decisions. The position involves full P&L responsibility, managing financial records, and collaborating with various departments to drive revenue growth and operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 4 professionals in program finance, financial planning & analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial records and financial statements with full P&L responsibility.
  • Partner with P&L Lead and act as a link between Business Development, Program Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations.
  • Develop strategies to work within approved budgets and achieve financial goals, including cost-saving measures.
  • Implement financial programs, policies, procedures, and systems to ensure proactive financial analyses and robust internal controls.
  • Manage variances proactively and provide timely analysis for critical business decisions.
  • Develop annual budgets and long-term forecasts.
  • Interface with external and internal auditors as required.
  • Manage the company's cash flow and working capital to support business operations.
  • Motivate and develop employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the Defense and Aerospace Industry.
  • Strong leadership and business acumen.
  • Experience in government contracting and knowledge of government Cost Accounting Standards.
  • At least 7 years of financial leadership experience.
  • Strong background in operational finance and controls with experience in reporting financial results.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating strategic financial projections and actionable analysis.
  • Ability to lead and influence complex teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with financial systems such as Costpoint and Focus Point (TM1).

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or CPA.
  • Experience implementing new ERP systems and associated routines and controls.
  • Knowledge of business and program execution tenants (e.g. EAC etc.)
