About the position

The Director of Finance at Athena Health Care Systems is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of hospice and care-at-home agencies across Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. This in-person role involves planning, coordinating, managing, and directing financial performance, including budget preparations and financial reporting. The position aims to ensure high-quality care and customer service while fostering a supportive work environment for employees.

Responsibilities

• Direct all daily financial business operations and implement financial policies, accounting systems, and cost controls.
• Implement improved work methods and procedures to maintain financial record systems in compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
• Manage all accounting information systems including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting systems.
• Ensure maximum third-party reimbursement through efficient billing and collections operations.
• Assist executive directors in preparing the annual budget and monitor fund allocations within budgetary limitations.
• Prepare and file periodic financial statements for internal users and regulatory agencies.
• Prepare applicable federal, state, and local taxes and the annual Medicare cost report.
• Provide leadership in strategic financial planning and identify opportunities for improved fiscal viability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field required.
• CPA and Master's degree preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in healthcare financial management, preferably in hospice care operations.
• Knowledge of information systems and corporate business management.
• Familiarity with governmental regulations and CHAP standards.
