About the position

The Mental Health Association of Monmouth County is seeking a part-time Director of Finance to oversee essential business and financial matters within the organization. This role involves providing day-to-day support, advising, and fostering strong relationships while ensuring sound operational financial practices. The Director will manage the organization's overall financial operations, including public grants, program income, and private funding, working closely with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer to maintain the organization's financial health.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the organization's overall financial operations and manage administrative responsibilities associated with public grants, program income, and private funding.
  • Maintain books and records in compliance with GAAP and manage monthly and annual closings.
  • Oversee annual audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Treasurer's reports to the Board and attend meetings.
  • Prepare and manage the operating budget, ensuring accuracy of accounting functions and monitoring expenditures.
  • Administer payroll and benefits in collaboration with the Benefits Administrator, maintaining payroll records and conducting employee orientations.
  • Mentor, coach, and supervise direct reports, including conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with financial institutions and vendors.

Requirements

  • Professional training in finance, administration, or accounting (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Expertise in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting and managing government grants is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strategic financial management and planning capabilities.
  • High ethical standards, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex information and provide guidance.
