As the Director of Information Technology at Varda Space Industries, you will play a pivotal role in managing the company's IT systems, processes, and controls. This position is not just about overseeing technology; it is about leading a highly skilled team that specializes in information technology, enterprise applications, information security, and spacecraft mission operations. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of critical functions, including the oversight of IT infrastructure, management of sophisticated IT services, and the design of highly reliable and powerful integrations. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, spacecraft operations teams, and the vehicle production organization to develop a comprehensive information technology strategy that aligns with Varda's mission of enhancing life on Earth through innovations in low earth orbit. In this full-time, exempt role based in our El Segundo headquarters, you will be tasked with recruiting, retaining, and empowering a diverse team of engineers. Together, you will design and build next-generation information technology infrastructure for Varda and the Winnebago spacecraft. Your leadership will extend to managing site reliability, IT, and information security teams, defining business processes, and identifying areas for improvement and automation. You will take end-to-end ownership of IT systems, including vendor relationships, testing, networking, and mission control design and maintenance. Your role will also involve providing day-to-day support for enterprise software applications and partnering with various teams to develop mission-critical hardware and software support for space missions. Your contributions will be crucial in building highly resilient, high-performance, scalable, and flexible systems. You will drive scripting and automation initiatives to develop solutions for common problems and software integrations, implement best practices across all IT functions, and prepare documentation related to information security audits. Additionally, you will handle special projects, ensuring their successful and timely completion while communicating complex concepts to senior management and external entities, including representatives of the US Government. Your expertise will also be essential in auditing and verifying security controls in accordance with industry standards and customer requirements.
