About the position

Primoris Power Delivery is currently seeking a Director of Operations who will play a pivotal role in overseeing the engineering, construction, and maintenance services provided to the high voltage electrical utility industry. This includes working with large Investor Owned Utilities, Electric Cooperatives, Municipal Electric Providers, and Independent Power Developers. The Director will be responsible for ensuring that the division meets its operational goals while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and financial performance. The position will also involve collaboration with the renewable division on renewable interconnection services, ensuring that all projects align with the company's strategic objectives. The Director of Operations will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Operations and will be tasked with driving the performance of the workforce to meet or exceed corporate safety targets and customer expectations. This includes conducting thorough investigations of any safety events, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions. The Director will also be responsible for operational audits and ensuring that all team members are held accountable for meeting safety and quality expectations. In terms of financial responsibilities, the Director will manage costs effectively, drive productivity, and ensure optimal equipment utilization to achieve operating income goals. This role will also involve assisting with budget development, financial forecasting, and the review of project bids and contracts. Additionally, the Director will play a key role in business development, helping to grow new business opportunities and strengthen relationships with existing customers within the division's geographic footprint.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure workforce meets or exceeds safety performance targets and customer expectations.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of safety events and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive operational audits and hold subordinates accountable for meeting expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal work methods and customer specifications for quality.
  • Minimize rework and impacts of customer damage claims.
  • Maximize customer quality performance audit scores.
  • Drive productivity and manage costs effectively to achieve Operating Income goals.
  • Assist with budget development and financial forecasts.
  • Review project bids and negotiate MSA contracts.
  • Oversee invoice review and approval, and ensure timely collection of accounts receivables.
  • Assist with business development and maintain relationships with customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in the Electrical Utility/Renewable environment.
  • At least 5 years in an advanced leadership position in electric utility construction or engineering consulting.
  • B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business preferred.
  • Successful completion of an electrical apprenticeship may satisfy the degree requirement.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability leading remote and diverse workgroups.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with peers and support organizations.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize dynamically changing situations.
  • Positive and professional image when representing the company.
