About the position

The Director of Rehabilitation is responsible for supervising and guiding all therapy personnel within a facility, ensuring that the rehabilitation needs of residents are met. This role involves daily scheduling, direct care, and oversight of therapy services, while adhering to regulatory standards and maintaining high-quality service delivery. The Director also plays a key role in documentation, claims management, and staff training, fostering a positive work environment and promoting the company's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise and guide therapy personnel including licensed therapists, assistants, aides, and students.
  • Daily scheduling of department staff to meet facility needs.
  • Provide direct care and collaborate with management to determine appropriate caseloads.
  • Ensure rehabilitation needs of residents are met.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of therapy services to adapt to changing environments.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards for rehabilitation service delivery.
  • Ensure clinical documentation is complete, timely, and accurate.
  • Conduct periodic documentation reviews within the department.
  • Coordinate denials management activities to ensure timely claims and appeals.
  • Meet or exceed established productivity standards with supervisor.
  • Deliver high-quality services that meet all standards of practice.
  • Implement new treatment programs and monitor their outcomes.
  • Adjust plans of care based on treatment program outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures of the facility and company.
  • Approve timecards and time worked by department personnel.
  • Provide evaluation input on department employees and build relationships with local hospitals and referral sites.
  • Attend and participate in facility and company meetings as approved by the supervisor.
  • In-service staff on safe work practices and body mechanics to minimize injuries.
  • Organize rehabilitation orientation for new department personnel and ensure timely paperwork completion.
  • Complete billing documentation accurately and timely in accordance with company standards.
  • Provide recommendations for improving company services and operations.
  • Identify personal development needs and seek training and continuing education opportunities.
  • Identify potential leaders within the company based on job requirements.
  • Identify new business sources and contacts.
  • Promote a positive attitude towards the company and its mission among staff and the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or related field.
  • Experience in a supervisory role within a rehabilitation setting.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards for rehabilitation services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced certifications in rehabilitation therapy.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of billing and coding practices for rehabilitation services.
