About the position

This position is incentive eligible. HCA Healthcare is one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services, comprising of over 180 hospitals and about 2,000 sites of care in 21 states and the United Kingdom. We are looking for a(an) Director of Quality and Risk for our Dominion Hospital team where excellence creates excellence. The Behavioral Health Quality Director oversees all aspects of the Behavioral Health Quality program.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and facilitate coordination of Behavioral Health quality, regulatory and performance improvement activities
  • Oversee Behavioral Health quality and patient safety aspects for all programs (encompassing inpatient and outpatient services)
  • Perform ongoing medical record review timely and accurately with identification of improvement strategies
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Serious Event Analysis (SEA) when indicated and reports to appropriate entities (i.e. corporate, PSO and regulatory bodies)
  • Facilitate Behavioral Health workgroup and Behavioral Health Quality Committee including committee activities and follow up
  • Coordinate data abstraction, reporting and analysis of Behavioral Health quality data including 'Getting to Green' and HBIPS metrics
  • Identify needs and opportunities for improvement based on outcomes data, unit rounding, medical record review, RCA and SEA
  • Actively round on all Behavioral Health campuses/departments to observe practices, perform gap assessments, provide in-time education and advise leadership, staff, medical staff and other professionals
  • Monitor patient safety aspects to identify gaps including daily safety huddles and communication of findings
  • Communicate and provide updates to Division and Corporate level leadership as requested
  • Coordinate Behavioral Health Infection Prevention program with Market Director Infection Prevention
  • Participate in market wide workgroups and performance improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement
  • Maintain behavioral health policies and procedures
  • Establish good working relationships with staff and medical staff
  • Ensure the privacy of our patients and confidentiality of their Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Promote customer service initiatives
  • Promote and exhibit teamwork and assist other departments within the hospital as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years in Acute Inpatient Behavioral Health - Required
  • 5 years of clinical experience required with at least 2 years of management experience preferred
  • Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), or Certified Professional Health Risk Mgmt (CPHRM) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
