About the position

The Director of Risk Management leads the institution's risk management program and provides broad support across the university; serves as a resource for contract questions and responds to matters concerning students, faculty, staff, Title IX, and regulatory compliance; the risk management compliance function helps support integrity in business as Regis College pursues its overall educational mission.

Responsibilities

  • Lead institutional enterprise risk management program; collaborate with senior management and other administrators and staff to upgrade internal controls and compliance mechanisms following best practices.
  • Support an enhanced awareness of regulatory requirements and compliance in an environment of institutional change within the university's Enterprise Risk Management framework.
  • Serve as Title IX Coordinator; manage the institution's investigation into all received reports and coordinate the response of campus police, student affairs, academic affairs, athletics, and other departments; continuously evaluate and update the Title IX response and investigation procedures.
  • Gather risk compliance related data and research from internal and/or external resources; research complex issues, document and ensure communication of key risks; develop and implement risk-assessment models and methodologies; recommend ways to control or reduce risk.
  • Assist management with research for the creation of new or updated policies; maintain a university portfolio of policies; assist in the implementation of a content management system and resource library.
  • Produce periodic reports and presentations that report on the outcome of risk management projects; outline findings, explain risk positions and recommend feasible/practicable solutions.
  • Develop and assist in conducting University-wide training programs on compliance, Title IX, and risk issues.
  • Advise grant-writing colleagues on risk issues concerning grant compliance.
  • Assist with institutional insurance coverage renewals for the University and required insurance filings from outside vendors doing work with the university.
  • Monitor institutional compliance to maintain legal, ethical, and proper activity; support individual departments in compliance matters; maintain the university compliance matrix and compliance calendars.
  • Manage investigations into reports of non-compliance; proactively engage with the institutional community to identify and investigate concerns.
  • Draft and review contracts.

Requirements

  • Experience in Risk Management or related discipline with progressive responsibility and experience with substantive engagement in risk management, Title IX and/or regulatory compliance in higher education, healthcare or the non-profit sector.
  • Master's degree required, Juris Doctorate degree a plus.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to analyze data to support data-driven decisions and to generate timely solutions; excellent project management skills; highly organized especially with large quantities of electronic files.
  • Demonstrate strategic decision-making skills; able to translate short and long-term goals into actionable plans.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate well and persuade others and serve as a valued resource at a practical and strategic level; adept at delivering formal presentations to key audiences.
  • Work effectively with diverse populations and respectfully partner with administrators, faculty, staff and students; relationship driven, the person must exercise tact, grace and diplomacy, political astuteness, and cultural competency; ability to use business savvy and technical knowledge to navigate the organization to achieve successful outcomes; must be fair-minded, impartial, level-headed, and open to new ideas.
  • Ability to assess importance, research complex issues, communicate findings, develop consensus, and recommend feasible and practicable solutions with demonstrated ability to find solutions to situations that have multiple potential outcomes and require the ability to distill available information.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated to achieve institutional goals.
