About the position

ABC Investments & Management Co. is seeking an experienced Director of Sales for the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel located in Columbia/Cayce, SC. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $45,000 to $60,000, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hotel sales and marketing, specifically within the Marriott brand. The Director of Sales will be responsible for promoting and selling guest rooms and meeting facilities, adhering to the sales guidelines set forth by both the Management Company and Marriott Hotels. A key focus of this role will be on SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious, and Fraternal) and corporate sales, which includes coordinating meeting room details, managing incoming inquiries, and conducting proactive sales calls to generate new business opportunities. In this role, the Director of Sales will engage in all aspects of the paperwork flow within the sales office, ensuring that all processes are followed to maximize hotel occupancy and revenue. The position may require some travel to participate in Sales Blitzes and other promotional events. The successful candidate will exemplify a high standard of integrity, service, and hospitality, promoting the company and hotel culture to both customers and co-workers. The Director of Sales will also manage accounts to ensure total guest satisfaction for all events, maintain account information in the sales database, and complete contracts in a timely manner. Regular attendance at sales-related departmental meetings and the development of relationships with key clients to produce group and meeting business will also be essential responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell guest rooms and meeting facilities according to sales guidelines.
  • Focus on SMERF and corporate sales, coordinating meeting room details and managing inquiries.
  • Conduct proactive sales calls to generate new business opportunities.
  • Engage in all aspects of paperwork flow in the sales office.
  • Manage accounts to achieve total guest satisfaction for all events.
  • Conduct regular site tours and attend on-site functions for client interaction.
  • Respond to incoming leads and requests for proposals in a timely manner.
  • Maintain account information in the sales database.
  • Complete contracts in a timely manner.
  • Attend various sales-related departmental meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients to produce group and meeting business.
  • Coordinate food and beverage pricing, meeting room rental, and function space services.
  • Support overall business and sales strategies of the company.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of hotel sales experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Sales Coordinator.
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire to provide impeccable service.
  • Ability to work additional hours outside of traditional work schedule when necessary.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for business purposes.
  • Solid knowledge of sales techniques and business etiquette.
  • Proficient in data entry and computer skills, including composition of letters and reports.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate to the public in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
