About the position

The Director of the Office of the U.S. Chief Technology and Operations Officer plays a critical role in supporting the development and management of U.S. regulatory relationships. This position involves collaborating with senior leaders to ensure strong governance and risk management practices, fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion, and driving team performance. The director will act as a subject matter expert on regulatory compliance and internal control systems, while also preparing briefings for senior leaders on regulatory matters and representing the business in governance forums.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior US leaders in providing risk and control narratives that demonstrate strong U.S. governance.
  • Foster a culture aligned with BMO's purpose, values, and strategy.
  • Build interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups.
  • Attract, retain, and enable the career development of top talent.
  • Manage team performance, recognize and reward achievements, and coach employees.
  • Act as a strategic partner to integrate program elements into overall business strategies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in FFIEC guidance related to Technology and Operations.
  • Prepare and brief senior leaders on regulatory matters across multiple businesses/groups.
  • Support regulatory compliance by interpreting requirements and addressing gaps.
  • Represent the business/group on Governance/Risk Working Groups and provide updates.
  • Develop and maintain business/group procedures in response to regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Typically 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert program management skills.
  • Extensive industry knowledge and expertise.

  • Expert analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Expert influence skills and collaboration abilities.
