About the position

The Director, Principal Enterprise Architect - GCS, Vaccines is a pivotal role at Pfizer, responsible for overseeing and organizing initiatives that align with the company's business objectives. This position is designed for an individual contributor who is a recognized expert in their technical domain, capable of articulating complex concepts to both technical and business audiences. The incumbent will lead the enterprise-wide architecture and platform strategy that supports Pfizer Digital, providing essential leadership to business stakeholders, client partners, product owners, and solution engineers. The primary goal is to facilitate the adoption of Pfizer's digital solutions and platforms, ensuring that technology selection and architecture effectively support the company's objectives. In this role, the Director will identify gaps in strategic solutions and platforms, assist in onboarding, support, documentation, and enhance the developer experience. The incumbent will also be responsible for gaining buy-in from stakeholders and helping them navigate challenges to achieve excellence. This position is part of the Pfizer Digital Enterprise Architecture organization, which is tasked with creating a cohesive enterprise architecture and master plan that integrates experiences, data, workflows, capabilities, applications, and backend services. Key responsibilities include delivering enterprise architecture services, creating detailed blueprints, conducting technology assessments, and developing strategic foresight services. The Director will advocate for the reuse of solutions and architectural patterns across the enterprise, influencing stakeholders to align with the enterprise architecture strategy. The role requires a proactive approach to drive initiatives that challenge the status quo, ensuring that the architecture aligns with business drivers and capabilities. The incumbent will also mentor junior colleagues, fostering their growth and development within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Enterprise Architecture services including creation of detailed Enterprise Architecture blueprints, business capability maps, maturity assessments, roadmaps, and investment prioritization recommendations.
  • Create and publish architecture artifacts supporting enterprise architecture services.
  • Evangelize reuse of solutions, platforms, and architectural patterns across the enterprise.
  • Lead complex projects within a business unit, providing technical and strategic context.
  • Shape and influence initiatives and platforms to achieve measurable value, including cost reduction and improved security.
  • Advise senior leadership on technical and business constraints, articulating how they interact.
  • Serve as a trusted voice for enterprise technical architecture, documenting success stories and measurable value.
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication of project milestones and create a high-functioning team environment.
  • Mentor junior colleagues and provide guidance and growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in launching, building, and supporting global enterprise solutions and platforms, including cloud-native solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and evidence of enabling teamwork in a matrix environment.
  • Strong diplomacy skills; able to navigate difficult political environments and build coalitions across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate marketing material into actionable and understandable truth.
  • An execution mindset focused on getting things done quickly and simply.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of business domain expertise in research, product development, manufacturing operations, or commercial areas in life sciences or related industry.
  • Experience working with teams using Agile frameworks in a scaled environment.
  • Relevant cloud and/or architect certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, Salesforce.com, SAP).
