About the position

The Director of Reputation and Business Communications at Celanese is a leadership role focused on guiding external communications efforts and enhancing the company's corporate brand. This position requires a skilled consultant and storyteller who can translate complex issues into compelling narratives for various audiences. The director will be responsible for executing corporate communications strategies, building brand awareness, and fostering a strong internal culture. The role demands a strategic thinker with extensive experience in media relations, social media, and change communication, aiming to position Celanese as a leader in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategic overall message platform for external communications, bringing structure to the Celanese narrative.
  • Partner with Global Communications peers to craft and execute integrated communications plans for the corporation and its leadership.
  • Set and achieve objectives for external communications through performance targets and measure progress.
  • Translate business strategies into key messages and manage their dissemination.
  • Coordinate with business units, Government Affairs, Investor Relations, and other teams to ensure consistency of messaging.
  • Serve as communications business partner to business units and Investor Relations.
  • Advise and assist executives in developing messages and strategies to drive organizational goals.
  • Develop relationships at all levels of the organization to support internal teams as a business partner.
  • Identify and secure strategic opportunities for public appearances and visibility for senior management.
  • Prepare press materials including releases, statements, and talking points.
  • Monitor and manage issues and crises relevant to company interests.
  • Lead internal media training and crisis communications response.
  • Serve as corporate spokesperson to news media and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage the company's global social media strategy and presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in English, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field.
  • 15 years of professional experience, including at least five years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including message development and audience analysis.
  • Experience with manufacturing-based companies or those with geographically diverse operations is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated strategic and creative business approach with a strong focus on execution.
  • Ability to manage multiple demanding initiatives concurrently and demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Experience in corporate communications within a Fortune 500 company.
