About the position

As one of the nation's leading electric transmission line construction companies, MasTec Power Delivery is seeking a Director of Safety to oversee and ensure the safety of our projects. This role is critical in maintaining our commitment to safety, integrity, and sustainable practices across all operations. The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing Project Specific Safety Environmental Plans (PSSEP) that are tailored to the scope of work and the anticipated risks associated with each project. This includes ensuring compliance with client requirements and adapting plans to reflect any changes in the work environment. The Director will also lead investigations into any incidents that occur, ensuring they are fully compliant with both client and MasTec investigation requirements. This role involves establishing performance objectives aligned with the strategic goals of the organization and conducting periodic performance reviews for all direct reports. The Director will conduct routine audits, inspections, and observations of work sites, providing responsible project managers and operations executives with findings and generating tracking metrics to identify any outliers. Reporting these outliers to the group level safety director is also a key responsibility. In addition to managing Field Safety Specialists and Safety Managers, the Director will oversee the development and implementation of complex safety initiatives across the organization. This includes researching, developing, and preparing programs that comply with safety and health-related government regulations, as well as TSG and client safety practices. The Director will also conduct risk assessments to identify high and medium-risk work activities, develop job safety analyses, and support the implementation of hazard mitigation methods. Training, coaching, and mentoring leaders on their roles and responsibilities regarding the Health & Safety Program is essential, as is conducting safety management evaluations and acting as a resource for all TSG team members. This position requires a significant amount of time spent in the field, with an average of 80% of the time dedicated to directly supporting projects in the region. The Director will also be expected to travel periodically and for extended periods to support and deliver projects effectively.
