About the position

Aspirus is seeking a Director - System Clinical Quality & Risk Management to join our team in Wausau, WI! The System Director Clinical Risk Management provides leadership and oversight for the Aspirus System in the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient safety and clinical risk management to ensure the programs fulfill Aspirus' goals and mission. The System Director is a recognized subject matter expert in clinical risk management and patient safety and is responsible for activities that include, but are not limited to, responding to medical/legal inquiries regarding emergent patient care issues and loss control; risk identification program development; promoting patient safety and enhancing quality care; conducting clinical risk management educational programs; and complying with clinical risk management related standards established by accrediting and regulatory agencies. Serves as the primary resource for event reporting system utilization; provides oversight and guidance to event analysis and the development of clinical risk reduction strategies; serves as a resource to system and business unit leadership regarding decision making in matters related to clinical risk management; and supports the compilation and analysis of clinical risk management and patient safety data. Supervises the day-to-day functions and operations of Managers of Risk and Patient Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Aspirus System in patient safety and clinical risk management.
  • Respond to medical/legal inquiries regarding emergent patient care issues and loss control.
  • Develop risk identification programs.
  • Promote patient safety and enhance quality care.
  • Conduct clinical risk management educational programs.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical risk management standards established by accrediting and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee event reporting system utilization and event analysis.
  • Develop clinical risk reduction strategies.
  • Support system and business unit leadership in clinical risk management decision making.
  • Compile and analyze clinical risk management and patient safety data.
  • Supervise day-to-day functions and operations of Managers of Risk and Patient Safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing or related field.
  • Training in patient safety, High Reliability, and performance improvement methodology.
  • CPHRM or ARM certification required within two years of hire.
  • CPPS certification is desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible management/leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in leading teams within a complex, matrix environment.
