About The Position

The Distributed Computer Systems Analyst position at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services involves providing technical support and analysis for distributed computer systems. The role focuses on user support, hardware and software configuration, network administration, and security management, ensuring efficient operation and security of the department's IT infrastructure.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in computer systems analysis, programming, or designing distributed computer systems.
• A bachelor's degree in computer sciences or management information systems with one year of relevant experience.
• A master's degree in computer sciences or management information systems.
• Three years of relevant experience with completion of a vocational/technical program in data processing or equivalent college coursework.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Oracle Management Software
• Knowledge of encryption techniques
• Familiarity with remote access software like TeamViewer
• Experience in systems analysis
• Knowledge of enterprise class server equipment

Responsibilities

• Utilize diagnostic tools and troubleshooting techniques to solve hardware, software, and communication problems.
• Request and coordinate warranty/repair services on equipment as needed.
• Provide ongoing support of labs, field inspectors, and building users.
• Use telephone and remote desktop tools to troubleshoot VPN, encryption, and network connectivity issues.
• Train and work with managers to submit Change Create User Access Requests for database roles and network login scripts.
• Configure workstations and laptops for new, existing, and transferring employees, ensuring necessary software is installed.
• Configure peripheral devices and assign cell phones to staff as needed.
• Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff regarding data processing terminology and procedures.
• Perform on-the-job training for distributed systems users and conduct classroom training if necessary.
• Maintain hardware and software inventory, including configuring new equipment and tracking software licenses.
• Configure and maintain scanner workstations and install necessary software for imaging support.
• Work with OATS on enterprise software licenses, installations, and upgrades.
• Conduct annual audits of network folders and manage user access security.
• Function as Division Information Security Officer and educate staff on security standards.
