About The Position

The Distributed Systems Engineering Intern at Bosch Research and Technology Center North America will engage in advanced engineering tasks focused on distributed systems and middleware frameworks. The role aims to enhance the reliability and scalability of existing platforms while collaborating with academic partners on innovative research in autonomous systems.

Requirements

  • Master's student or highly qualified B.S. student in Computer Science or related fields (Must be a current student or recent graduate - less than 1 year)
  • Strong background in computer science, robotics or distributed systems
  • Strong programming fundamentals: data structures and algorithms
  • Solid Rust programming skills
  • Proficient experience in Linux operating systems
  • Hands-on experience working with robotic middleware such as ROS2 or FogROS2
  • Cloud computing platform experience (i.e. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in programming languages such as C++ and/or Python
  • Publication record in top venues (ICRA, IROS, RSS, CoRL, NeurIPs etc.)
  • Background in embedded systems, distributed systems, operating systems and/or real-time systems is a plus
  • Background in cloud computation and/or network protocols is a plus
  • Able to work independently, has strong research and problem-solving skills
  • Strong background in math and statistics is a plus
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, experienced working with University Collaborators

Responsibilities

  • Conduct advanced engineering in distributed systems and middleware frameworks to address practical challenges found in today's autonomous systems.
  • Increase reliability and scalability of an existing middleware and connectivity platform by implementing new features, improvements, and bug fixes.
  • Test and deploy the middleware on various use-cases.
  • Collaborate with partners at UC Berkeley on scalable distributed autonomous systems research.
