About the position

The Core Processing Clerk plays a vital role in the distribution center by managing the unloading, staging, sorting, and scanning of core returns and defective merchandise from customers. This position is essential for maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of the core processing operations, which directly impacts the overall performance of the distribution center. The clerk is expected to adhere to performance measures that include sales quotas, speed, and accuracy in handling merchandise. In this role, the clerk will be responsible for unloading and staging core returns and defective merchandise, ensuring that all items are processed correctly and efficiently. The clerk will also sort and scan these items, completing all necessary paperwork associated with core procedures. This includes running copies of credits and distributing them as directed, as well as stocking and picking parts as needed. The job holder must be adaptable and ready to perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall mission and vision of the company. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can communicate effectively and work collaboratively with other departments. The clerk must maintain a clean and orderly work area, comply with all safety requirements, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn and grow within the organization. The ability to utilize various computer systems, such as AS400 and JD Edwards, is also essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Unloads and stages core return and core defective merchandise.
  • Sorts and scans core return and core defective merchandise returned from customers.
  • Completes all paperwork associated with core procedures.
  • Runs copies of credits and distributes as directed.
  • Stocks and picks parts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
  • 6 months prior work experience.
  • Forklift Certified.
  • Knowledge of using pallet jack or two-way radio.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with other departments.
  • Able to read and write legibly.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to utilize the AS400 Computer system and terminal.
  • Ability to utilize the JD Edwards system.
  • Strong desire to learn.
  • Organized, self-motivator.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Complies with all safety requirements pertaining to job functions and location.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Visually capable of recognizing and distinguishing letters and numbers and their sequencing.
  • Ability to speak clearly and listen attentively.
  • Ability to work on feet (stand and walk) for entire assigned work shift.
  • Able to lift up to 60 lbs. and push or pull up to 300 lbs. with assistance of a two-wheel dolly or forklift.
  • Ability to repeatedly bend or stoop to floor level shelves and able to reach upper shelves with use of stool or ladder when necessary.
  • Ability to move engine blocks, core barrels, and other heavy equipment with moving aids designed to move such items, including hand truck, barrel dollies, hydraulic lifts, etc.
