About the position

The Distribution Specialist II plays a crucial role in overseeing the receipt, storage, and shipping of packaging process samples within a pharmaceutical setting. This position acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Distribution Specialist I team, ensuring effective communication and coordination of distribution activities. The specialist is responsible for executing international shipments, managing customer sample orders, and maintaining accurate documentation to support specialty distribution services.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the SME for the Distribution Specialist I team, preparing for upcoming workloads.
  • Manage receipt, storage, and shipping of packaging process samples.
  • Execute international shipments of finished goods, samples, and components.
  • Provide 3PL services for distributing finished goods to commercial locations.
  • Complete special projects including shipping studies and relabeling as needed.
  • Communicate distribution activities among the specialty distribution department.
  • Manage Batch Record Customer Sample Orders and ensure compliance with sample requirement forms.
  • Review and edit SSRF documentation, ensuring approval and upload to Veeva.
  • Interface with warehouse, customer service, and quality teams to ensure proper shipment execution.
  • Process sales orders and maintain customer purchase orders in QAD for invoicing requirements.
  • Coordinate preparation of goods for shipment, including staging, labeling, and documentation.
  • Review shipping documents for accuracy, especially for international shipments.
  • Inspect trailers or containers prior to loading and document conditions as necessary.
  • Perform inventory counts for products and customer-supplied shipping materials.
  • Attend weekly meetings with stakeholders to review project status.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience overseeing distribution in a pharmaceutical setting.
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in business or operations related field; Associates (AS/AA) preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; 6-12 months warehouse/distribution experience required.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Hazmat/IATA certification is a plus.
  • Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Previous employment in a cGMP compliant facility preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Smartsheet.
  • Valid IATA Certification.
