About the position

By ensuring the proper implementation of safety, shrink, and operational programs, the District Asset Protection Manager helps maintain a safe environment for both customers and employees while achieving inventory shrink targets and enhancing the overall customer experience. In this role, the District Asset Protection Manager collaborates closely with the district team, store leadership, employees, the field human resources team, and key partners in the corporate office. This collaboration is essential for identifying and proactively addressing opportunities to improve the organization's financial performance and customer experience. Continuous analysis of improvement opportunities is a key responsibility, as is the communication of findings and potential solutions to the appropriate stakeholders. The position requires a strategic mindset to drive the development of tactical plans that align with asset protection, safety, and business strategies. The District Asset Protection Manager evaluates assigned stores to ensure compliance with established company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Regular store walk-throughs are conducted to assess safety, security, and operational efficiency, and the manager provides training and support during program rollouts and system enhancements. Additionally, the role involves managing expense accounts related to loss prevention, safety, and security, as well as hiring, supervising, and developing team members to foster growth and responsibility within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Drives the development of tactical plans aligned with asset protection, safety, and business strategies.
  • Evaluates assigned stores to ensure compliance with established company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performs store walk-throughs to assess safety, security, and operational efficiency.
  • Provides training and support during program rollouts and system enhancements.
  • Manages expense accounts in assigned stores for key controllable expenses.
  • Hires, supervises, trains, and develops Asset Protection and Safety Managers and Senior Asset Protection Managers.
  • Aligns the team's time and effort to projects critical to success.
  • Provides open feedback and mentorship to team members.
  • Builds relationships and collaborates effectively with key internal and external leaders and stakeholders.
  • Partners with store leadership to help employees understand the impact of operational goals on customer experience.
  • Develops and presents communications to store, district, and regional leadership.
  • Trains store personnel on proper reporting procedures and evaluates compliance with safety and security documentation requirements.
  • Responds to and manages crisis management and hostile working environment situations.
  • Drives awareness and participation in safety programs to minimize incidents.
  • Analyzes safety reporting to identify trends and implement plans based on root cause analysis.
  • Analyzes data to identify shrink-related issues and trends, working with store management to address them.
  • Validates execution of shrink programs across the district.
  • Trains and manages investigations, conducting interviews and identifying action steps for theft concerns.
  • Reviews and validates critical operational processes impacting stock and accuracy.
  • Partners with DM and store leadership to review operating systems for improvement opportunities.
  • Coaches and develops employees around processes impacting customer experience.
  • Delivers consistent reporting and trend analysis to support financial performance improvement plans.
  • Identifies key areas for improvement and encourages leadership teams to close gaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years of experience in a retail or professional environment in loss prevention or 5 years of experience in a multi-store big box retail environment.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and using varied sources of data to understand complex problems.
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10 years of experience in multi-store retail experience.
  • Experience working in an omni-channel retail environment.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business documents (P&L, exception reports, etc.).
  • Experience conducting quality reviews/audits.
  • Experience using physical security systems (CCTV, EAS, etc.).
  • LPC/LPQ qualification.
  • Completion of a certified training program (Wicklander-Zulawski or Reed training).
