About The Position

The Donation Attendant plays a crucial role in supporting Goodwill's mission by providing excellent customer service and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This position is focused on establishing partnerships with donors, managing donations efficiently, and ensuring that the donation process runs smoothly to help reduce waste and improve sales.

Requirements

  • Retail and customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write English proficiently or be enrolled in an approved ESL program.
  • Demonstrate math and/or accounting skills.
  • Must be familiar or gain familiarity with cashiering system.
  • Must be able to stand on hard surfaces for an extended period.
  • Ability to work in a diverse public environment.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
  • Must have a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings, and weekends; schedules may change based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Establish partnerships with donors to ensure a continuous flow of goods.
  • Properly log donor counts daily, including e-waste donations.
  • Offer tax receipts to donors and assist in unloading donations.
  • Handle goods and equipment properly to avoid damage or breakage.
  • Assist drivers in loading and unloading goods or equipment.
  • Communicate needed reports and information in a timely manner.
  • Sort and label goods by category and place them in proper containers or equipment.
  • Separate high-end goods and computer accessories and place them in proper equipment.
  • Fill out needed production and inventory reports.
  • Stack donated goods neatly and safely.
  • Perform basic arithmetical calculations including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Hand out marketing materials to donors.
  • Greet donors and provide information about Goodwill's donation policy, mission, and programs.
  • Maintain clean housekeeping around the donation area (about 50 ft. radius).
  • Assist supervisor in providing on-the-job training to new staff, participants, clients, and volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
