About the position

The Custom Millwork Drafter is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and plans for custom millwork projects, which include cabinetry and architectural woodwork for various spaces. This role involves collaboration with architects, designers, and clients to ensure that their visions are accurately represented in the drawings, while adhering to industry standards and building codes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with architects, interior designers, and clients to understand project requirements and design preferences.
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software.
  • Generate accurate plans, elevations, and sections that reflect design intent and construction details.
  • Select appropriate materials, finishes, and hardware for custom millwork pieces.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including material schedules and assembly instructions.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of own work and that of colleagues to ensure quality and precision.
  • Maintain open communication with project stakeholders regarding design modifications and feedback.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and adjusting priorities as necessary.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and participate in training programs to enhance drafting skills.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 2020, BSolid, CABINET VISION, and SketchUp.
  • Experience with CNC.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in drafting work.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of woodworking techniques, materials, and construction methods.
