About The Position

The Driver Utility Worker at the Carl D. Perkins Job Corps Center is responsible for transporting students and staff to various locations for educational and recreational purposes. This role also involves performing preventative maintenance and janitorial services, ensuring vehicle safety and compliance with regulations, and assisting with general maintenance tasks. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a related field.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License Class B CDL with passenger endorsements.

Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles to designated destinations as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local motor vehicle laws.
  • Maintain vehicles with necessary safety equipment and first-aid kits.
  • Provide transportation for nonresidential students to and from the center.
  • Transport students to off-center training, work-based learning, and medical appointments.
  • Comply with company and Job Corps travel policies and Federal guidelines.
  • Maintain receipts for fuel and other purchases for audit purposes.
  • Upload mileage and fleet usage in JC Suite of Applications when assigned.
  • Clean and inspect all vehicles weekly.
  • Implement practices to reduce petroleum fuel consumption.
  • Analyze delivery addresses and determine appropriate routes.
  • Report accidents or injuries to supervisors immediately.
  • Load and unload products from trucks and trailers as assigned.
  • Perform vehicle inspections before and after each trip.
  • Adhere to company operating policies and procedures.
  • Maintain driving logs and prepare vehicle performance forms.
  • Provide special care in delivering fragile and hazardous products.
  • Assist skilled maintenance workers with projects as needed.
  • Cleans buildings and grounds areas as assigned.
  • Coordinate with skilled maintenance workers for project completion.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Perform general and semiskilled maintenance activities as needed.
  • Prepare written materials for documentation of activities.
