About the position

The position at Sea-Logix, LLC involves the safe and timely transport of customer freight. The driver is responsible for inspecting the truck before and after trips, submitting a Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR), and ensuring the truck's condition is satisfactory. The role includes various repetitive tasks such as lifting the tractor hood, inspecting tires, climbing onto the catwalk to check air and brake lines, and hooking and unhooking containers while adhering to safety best practices. The driver will pick up and deliver equipment from the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach, customer locations, rail yards, and service centers, which involves opening and closing container doors, sweeping containers, cranking landing gear, and attaching air and brake hoses. The driver must maintain logs in accordance with state and federal regulations and comply with all safety policies and work rules.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safe, on-time transport of customer freight.
• Inspect truck before and after trips and submit DVIR indicating truck condition.
• Lift tractor hood, stoop to inspect tires and tractor body, and climb onto catwalk to inspect air/brake lines.
• Hook and unhook containers as required, utilizing safety best practices and guidelines.
• Pickup and deliver equipment from the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach, customer locations, rail yards, and service center (CFS) within the commercial zone.
• Open and close container doors, ensuring safety practices are adhered to.
• Sweep containers to ensure they are clean of debris.
• Properly crank landing gear on chassis up/down.
• Properly attach air/brake hoses.
• Fill truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid as needed.
• Maintain HOS (Hour of Service) log in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Maintain and provide record on driver's street sheet for equipment transported.
• Obtain customer's signature for proof of delivery and/or pickup.
• Maintain radio or telephone contact with dispatcher or supervisor.
• Follow all Federal, State, and Local commercial driving regulations.
• Comply with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and local addendums.
• Comply with all company safety policies, work rules, and corporate policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Able to competently perform job duties described above.
• 2+ years' experience as a commercial driver required.
• Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with hazardous materials, tankers, and triples endorsements.
• Must have a current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• Must have and maintain a valid Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).
