About the position
BlueLinx is seeking a Local CDL A Driver to join our distribution team, responsible for delivering products to our customers in a safe and timely manner. As a driver, you will play a crucial role in representing our company and ensuring customer satisfaction. Our drivers are home every night, eliminating the need for overnight runs, and work a Monday to Friday schedule, typically starting between 5-6 am depending on daily load assignments. This position involves flatbed hauling of building materials, where you will be responsible for the securement of loads, although tarping is not required. We pride ourselves on providing safe and reliable equipment, utilizing newer model trucks to ensure a smooth driving experience. With a guaranteed pay of $1,200 per week, based on a rate of $0.40 per mile for 600 miles, this position offers competitive compensation along with full benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with company match. Responsibilities
- Accurate and timely delivery of freight and pick-up
- Load securement and directing the unloading by customer forklift operators
- Maintain electronic logbook and complete trip reports
- Manage Proof of Delivery Paperwork from customers
- Interact professionally with customers; process and communicate customer issues
- Maintain daily safety checklist and perform all required DOT inspections
Requirements
- Class A CDL
- Minimum 21 years of age
- 12 months of tractor trailer experience in the past 3 years
- Safe Driving Record (considered on a case-by-case basis): no major accidents/moving violations in past three years, including no DUIs in last 5 years
- Physical ability to secure loads
- Ability to read customer orders
