As a Structural & Mechanical Systems Engineer I, you will apply standard engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. You will be involved in the development, release, and support of engineering artifacts across the development cycle to support hardware fabrication, assembly, verification, test, and operations. Your role will also include implementing operating procedures, resolving system malfunctions, and providing technical information. You will research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Additionally, you will specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Investigating equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and making recommendations to the maintenance crew will also be part of your responsibilities. Your projects may include many aspects of applied mechanical/structural engineering including design, analysis, and testing of mechanical systems, propulsion systems, and structures. The projects will include the integration of materials and processes, manufacturing, testing, operations, and systems engineering. Specific duties will be subject to our business unit objectives, and you will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.

Responsibilities

  • Apply standard engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed an internship with Blue Origin in 2024.
  • Enrolled or recently graduating student attending a college or university.
  • Able to start working full-time on or before September of 2025.
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, or similar discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
  • Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for Blue's Mission with a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves
