About the position

The Early Childhood Exceptional Children Special Education Teacher for Pre-Kindergarten at Brandywine School District is responsible for providing individualized instruction to preschoolers with disabilities in an inclusive classroom setting. Utilizing the Creative Curriculum for Preschoolers and Breakthrough to Literacy programs, the teacher will assist students in developing the readiness skills necessary for entering kindergarten. The position emphasizes a low student-to-teacher ratio, allowing for tailored educational experiences that cater to the unique needs of each child. The teacher will work closely with both students and their families to foster a supportive learning environment that promotes student achievement and strengthens community partnerships. Responsibilities

  • Develop daily and unit lesson plans that are thoughtful, goal-oriented, and aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Integrate technology into lesson plans and maintain a pace of learning that accommodates student differences.
  • Check for student understanding and convey high expectations for all students.
  • Plan for substitute teachers and relate lessons to state content standards.
  • Create and maintain an engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and behavioral performance.
  • Provide prompt and specific feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with staff members.
  • Display a high level of professional conduct and maintain an acceptable attendance record.
  • Participate in extra-curricular activities and leadership roles outside the classroom.
  • Engage in professional development through classes and workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Early Childhood Special Education.
  • Possess or be eligible for educator licensure and/or certification in Delaware for Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.
  • Exceptional classroom management, organization, planning, and instructional delivery skills.
  • Ability to utilize differentiated instructional methods to engage students.
  • Outstanding ability to motivate and build relationships with students and parents.
  • Commendable history of effective leadership and extra-curricular participation.
