The Ecommerce Demand Forecasting Analyst plays a crucial role in the organization by leveraging data to predict future sales trends and optimize promotional strategies. This position requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work with large datasets to derive actionable insights. The analyst will be responsible for collecting and organizing promotional data from various internal sources, ensuring that the data is categorized effectively to facilitate analysis. This includes developing a centralized data repository that allows for easy access and manipulation of data, which is essential for accurate forecasting. In addition to data collection, the analyst will utilize historical sales data and apply time series forecasting techniques to establish baseline sales forecasts. This involves cleansing promotional lifts from the baseline forecast to ensure accuracy and supporting the development of a weekly rolling forecast that incorporates both baseline sales and promotional impacts. The role also includes conducting comprehensive price elasticity analysis for different product categories and price points, which is vital for understanding how pricing changes can affect sales volume. The analyst will calculate sales lift multipliers based on historical data and promotional performance, creating a standardized menu of these multipliers for use in order forecasting. Reporting and analysis are key components of this position. The analyst will prepare regular reports on demand forecasts and promotional performance, as well as conduct ad-hoc analyses to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. This role requires excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey findings and recommendations to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in demand forecasting, particularly within an ecommerce or retail environment, and be proficient in data analysis tools such as Excel and SQL.
