About the position

As an Economic Analyst at the CIA, you will play a crucial role in assessing foreign economic, trade, and financial interests that impact U.S. security interests. This position requires a deep understanding of both macroeconomic and microeconomic issues, with analysts in regional offices focusing on specific country or regional challenges, while those addressing transnational issues will take a broader, global perspective. Your work may involve evaluating illicit financial activities, including those related to terrorist and criminal networks, money laundering, and foreign corruption. In this role, you will have opportunities for both foreign and domestic travel, as well as access to language training and analytic tradecraft and management training. This position allows you to develop substantive expertise in economic analysis and engage in broadening assignments with various offices within the Agency and across the U.S. Government. You will be expected to contribute to the Agency's mission by providing insights that inform national security decisions and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assess foreign economic, trade, and financial interests affecting U.S. security interests.
  • Evaluate macroeconomic and microeconomic issues in specific regions or globally.
  • Analyze illicit financial activities, including money laundering and foreign corruption.
  • Participate in foreign and domestic travel for research and analysis purposes.
  • Engage in language training and analytic tradecraft training to enhance analytical skills.
  • Collaborate with other offices within the Agency and across the U.S. Government on broadening assignments.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and at least 18 years of age.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining the CIA, including a background investigation.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or International Management.
  • Preferred GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4-point scale.
