About the position

The Education Specialist (Mild/Moderate) position at CMS is designed for an individual who will provide specialized instruction to elementary school students who are struggling to acquire the necessary skills in line with their regular classroom instruction. This role is crucial in ensuring that students with mild to moderate disabilities receive the support they need to succeed academically. The specialist will work closely under the direction of the principal and will be an integral part of the child study team, collaborating with other professionals, including psychologists, to assess and diagnose academic deficiencies in students. In this role, the Education Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. This includes creating lesson plans that accommodate various learning styles and abilities, providing one-on-one or small group instruction, and monitoring student progress to ensure that they are making adequate gains in their learning. The specialist will also be expected to maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress. Additionally, the Education Specialist will participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions about student needs and interventions. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and advocating for the needs of students with disabilities. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, including all courses needed to meet appropriate credential requirements.
  • Education Specialist Credential: Mild/Moderate Disabilities.
  • Required documentation: cover letter, current resume, transcripts, credential with authorization(s), test scores, and three current supervisory letters of recommendation.
