About the position

The Educational Specialist at The Craig School is a full-time, salaried position dedicated to providing specialized instruction to students in grades 3-8 who face challenges with executive function skills. This role is crucial in fostering an inclusive learning environment tailored to the unique needs of children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Specific Learning Disorders. The Educational Specialist will work closely with a team that includes two specially trained paraprofessional behavior specialists, ensuring a supportive 1:4 staff-to-student ratio. Additionally, the specialist will collaborate with a mental health professional who serves as a behavioral case manager and a Mentor Teacher to enhance the educational experience of each student. In this role, the Educational Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing curricula and instructional materials that cater to the diverse learning needs of students. Monitoring student progress toward individualized goals is a key component of this position, requiring a proactive approach to assessment and adaptation of teaching strategies. The specialist will also play a vital role in understanding and promoting the mission, goals, and objectives of The Craig School, ensuring that all educational practices align with the institution's commitment to supporting children with special needs. This position operates on an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, with a competitive salary range of $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree including all coursework required for credentialing in education.
  • Possession of a valid California Commission on Teaching Credentialing, Educational Specialist Instruction Credential with certification in Autism, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, and English Learner Authorization.
  • Eagerness to develop curricula and instructional materials for children with neurodevelopmental disorders.
  • Ability to understand the mission, goals, and objectives of The Craig School.
