About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care within a dental practice. This position focuses on assisting dentists with various clinical procedures, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and enhancing the overall patient experience. The EFDA is expected to contribute to a supportive and empathetic environment that prioritizes patient satisfaction and promotes a new culture of dentistry.

Requirements

• EFDA Certification or on-the-job training required per state requirements.
• Radiography licensure for respective state requirements.
• 1-5 years of experience preferred; will consider new graduates.
• CPR Certification is required.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite.
• Knowledge of dental charting software and digital x-rays with the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assists doctors with charting, placement of fillings, operatory set/clean up, and patient education.
• Performs expanded duties following state regulations and compliance.
• Assists in clinical procedures such as placing amalgam or composite fillings, adapting temporary crowns, removing surgical sutures, and applying topical fluoride treatments.
• Records and reviews patient health history, makes chart entries under the doctor's direction, and assures completion of forms and signatures in dental software.
• Enters and updates patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating dentist.
