About the position

We are a leading group life insurance company seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join our innovative technology team. As an EIS Solutions Architect Lead, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing robust and scalable solutions that meet the needs of our business and customers. Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level architectural solutions based on business requirements, ensuring that the design is scalable, maintainable, and meets industry standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
  • Contribute to maintaining technology standards and best practices, while ensuring solutions meet those standards and align with the enterprise technology roadmap.
  • Be a trusted advisor to colleagues, Enterprise Architects, Management, and Leadership on topics technical and varied.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including business analysts, project managers, and IT teams, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of projects.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including diagrams, design specifications, and technical guidelines.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends; propose innovative solutions to enhance our technology stack with cloud-native architectures, API-first development, and digital transformation as focus areas.
  • Identify and escalate risks and issues to appropriate team members and management. Provide regular status reports to management and stakeholders.
  • Assume additional duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in software development, including 3+ years in a solution architecture or technical leadership role.
  • Proficient in application development frameworks and technologies (e.g. Java J2EE, Spring Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET, C#).
  • Strong understanding of architectural patterns, microservices, and cloud-based solutions (Experience with AWS (preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud.).
  • Experience with relational databases, including database design and optimization, streaming patterns, data lake and warehouse architectures, etc.
  • Hands-on experience designing event-driven architectures with messaging frameworks like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ESB solutions.
  • Exposure to front-end frameworks like React or Angular.
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts and their application in software solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Flexible in the face of changing priorities, with the ability to multi-task, and handle urgent interruptions with high level of professionalism and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent analytical, process design and problem-solving skills, combined with strong business judgment and project leadership experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, TOGAF, or similar.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, JIRA).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including Maven, Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience implementing and integrating core insurance platforms (EIS Suite preferred, Duck Creek, or Guidewire) in an enterprise environment.
