About the position

The Electric Power Sales Representative at Peterson Power Systems is responsible for conducting sales and marketing activities within an assigned territory. This role involves promoting and selling heavy machinery and equipment, maintaining and growing market share, and developing new business opportunities. The representative will engage in face-to-face customer interactions, provide product information, and ensure customer satisfaction post-sale.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell heavy machinery/equipment within an assigned territory.
  • Maintain and grow Peterson's market share within the territory.
  • Organize daily schedule to maximize prospect calls.
  • Locate prospects for face-to-face presentations.
  • Make an average of 4 or more customer calls per day.
  • Contact potential customers by telephone when face-to-face meetings are impractical.
  • Call on all assigned accounts at least once each year.
  • Present sales literature and brochures to customers and prospects.
  • Inform customers of new product developments and improvements.
  • Identify and engage with decision-makers in customer companies.
  • Correspond with customers in writing as follow-up when appropriate.
  • Recognize and develop new prospects in the territory.
  • Maintain awareness of potential customers for Caterpillar products and services.
  • Present equipment features and benefits to customers in person.
  • Provide written summaries of cost benefits and equipment features when appropriate.
  • Attend bid openings and keep abreast of local trade news for contract awards.
  • Maintain frequent communication with the Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR).
  • Create pro forma financial analyses of customer expected returns and financing options when required.
  • Submit required territory data to management in a timely manner.
  • Attend and participate in team strategic sales meetings and trade organizations.
  • Support marketing activities by attending trade shows and conferences.
  • Coordinate and attend delivery of each new or used machine sold.
  • Follow up with customers after sale to ensure machine acceptance and satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of four years of directly related experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
