Chemours is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing Maintenance and Reliability Organization. This position will report directly to the Site Asset Manager at our Delisle, MS location. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, providing engineering support for electrical, controls, and power distribution systems to the plant operating. You will provide technical expertise in low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including motor control centers, switchgear, protection relays, and sizing power cables. Additionally, you will support small and large cost and capital projects, communicate and work with other internal and external engineers, and provide technical guidance and review for electrical procedures, programs, and safe work practices. You will also be involved in troubleshooting electrical, controls, and instrument problems as needed for the operating areas, leading root cause failure analyses (RCFAs) pertaining to electrical and control systems, and providing electrical and instrumentation engineering assistance to maintenance and operations. This includes troubleshooting, evaluating equipment failures, and making technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades. You will develop knowledge in area-specific equipment to become a subject matter expert for the review and preparation of maintenance inspection and work procedures, as well as skills development and training. Furthermore, you will initiate management of change documents to improve safety, quality, environmental impact, or cost of the production area, prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and equipment specifications, and review preventive maintenance plans to ensure optimum process and frequency of performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for electrical, controls, and power distribution systems to the plant operating.
  • Provide technical expertise in low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including motor control centers, switchgear, protection relays, and sizing power cables.
  • Provide engineering support for small and large cost and capital projects.
  • Provide technical expertise to communicate and work with other internal and external engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance and review for electrical procedures, programs, and safe work practices.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and instrument problems as needed for the operating areas.
  • Lead root cause failure analyses (RCFAs) pertaining to electrical and control systems.
  • Provide electrical and instrumentation engineering assistance to maintenance and operations including troubleshooting, evaluation of equipment failures, and technical recommendations for repairs and upgrades.
  • Develop knowledge in area-specific equipment to become subject matter experts for the review and preparation of maintenance inspection and work procedures and skills development/training.
  • Initiate management of change documents to improve safety, quality, environmental impact, or cost of the production area.
  • Prepare and audit scopes of work, estimates, schedules, and equipment specifications.
  • Review preventive maintenance plans to ensure optimum process and frequency of performance.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 1-5 years of similar work experience
  • Strong values on safety awareness and execution
  • Demonstrated ability to organize self and others to obtain cooperation from people to find appropriate work solutions

  • Demonstrated work experience in plant electrical, PLC, and instrument system design, maintenance, and operation.
  • Experience with motors, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, soft-starters, etc.
  • Experience with flow, pressure, temperature, level, pH, density, conductivity, etc.
  • Experience with PLCs (preferably Rockwell)
  • Prior experience working with field personnel in maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Excellent organizational competencies including strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage short duration deadlines, emergency situations, and multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • SAP Knowledge preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards (NEC, ISA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PLC systems (Rockwell preferred)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or mining
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and best practices/programs in engineered solutions.
