About the position

As a Electrical Design Engineer specializing in High-Speed Interconnect, you will be responsible for the architectural design, schematic capture, and system-level signal integrity validation of advanced interconnect solutions. This includes high-speed cable, connector, network interface cards (NICs), and other networking interconnects. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across electrical design, mechanical, thermal, and signal integrity domains to deliver state-of-the-art hardware solutions for data center and enterprise networking environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute schematic design and layout definition for high-speed interconnect products.
  • Work closely with SI and layout teams to ensure optimal signal integrity and power delivery.
  • Translate system requirements into hardware design specifications.
  • Lead design reviews, ensuring alignment across electrical, mechanical, and thermal disciplines.
  • Evaluate tradeoffs in component selection, routing constraints, and cost optimization.
  • Conduct pre-layout and post-layout simulations using tools such as HFSS, SIwave, or Keysight ADS.
  • Analyze signal/power integrity, channel loss, crosstalk, eye diagrams, and jitter compliance.
  • Validate interconnect designs for compliance with standards like PCIe, Ethernet, and OCP NIC specs.
  • Support bring-up and debugging of initial hardware prototypes.
  • Collaborate with test and validation teams to define test plans and correlate simulation to lab measurements.
  • Analyze lab results using tools like VNA, TDR, high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Interface with product managers, system architects, and software teams to ensure end-to-end solution alignment.
  • Participate in vendor and supplier engagements to evaluate component solutions.
  • Support manufacturing teams with design-for-test and design-for-manufacturing practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware or board-level design for high-speed systems.
  • Solid understanding of signal integrity, power delivery network (PDN) design, and high-speed layout best practices.
  • Experience with design tools such as Cadence Allegro, Altium, or Mentor Graphics.
  • Familiarity with interconnect standards: PCIe Gen4/Gen5/Gen6, 25/50/100/200G IEEE Ethernet standards, and OCP NIC.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality designs in fast-paced environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with high speed cable and connector development.
  • Knowledge of thermal/mechanical design constraints in dense NIC or server environments.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and regulatory compliance.
  • Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is a plus for cross-region collaboration.
