About the position

The Ride & Show Electrical Designer role at Actalent involves creating and communicating design through production drawings for theme parks. This position requires collaboration with engineering teams to deliver design drawings that support the planning and execution of capital and sustainment projects for innovative attractions. The designer will be responsible for producing CAD designs, detail drawings, and documentation for electrical systems and components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative and production design packages in support of project requirements.
  • Provide CAD design layouts and detail drawings for capital and expense projects.
  • Participate in project design reviews.
  • Complete multiple fast-paced projects using effective time management principles.
  • Research historical data and materials to determine project requirements and formulate solutions.
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes and standards, including California/Florida Ride Law.
  • Review design packages with vendors for conformance with design documentation.
  • Work with Engineers to ensure proper documentation is submitted into the electronic data management system.
  • Stay updated on best industry practices and relevant legislation.
  • Learn new software packages as needed for project documentation delivery.

Requirements

  • Four or more years of design experience as a Designer or degreed Engineer in a design environment.
  • AutoCAD electrical experience (professional training and/or certification).
  • Engineering and electrical/mechanical design skills, including knowledge of manufacturing practices.
  • Knowledge of materials, welding, finish processes, and ASME standards.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, problem solving, analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple defined projects in a high-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • GD&T training and/or certification.
  • SolidWorks CSWA certification or equivalent training.
  • AutoCAD 2018, Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Design & Drafting preferred.
  • AutoCAD Electrical 2018, professional training preferred.
  • Eplan P2.9, Eplan Certified Engineer preferred.
  • Awareness of Industry Standards such as ANSI, ASME, IEC, IEEE, ISO, and others.
